It was our first flight with Air Asia, so, we had to try the Nasi Lemak - which was disappointing. Haha…Yucks! Lucky we just ordered one food!
We arrived on time around 11 plus at HK airport. The tourist counter was packed with a lot of brochures for visitors, so, u can find all useful information there. We took a lot of it, to cross reference with our own DIY itineraries.
We reached the Royal Plaza Hotel in Mongkok around 12.50 pm, after the bus alight all other tourist at various hotels. We were the last to alight…Was told our room not ready, so, we checked-in, left our baggage and went for lunch. The hotel is attached to a shopping mall – Grand Century, so we went to have lunch at the food court.
~on our way to the hotel - took photo of Hong Kong minibus~
I had Wan Tan Mee, hubby had Porridge (Kap-tai-chok) and we ordered soy milk with black sesame. Bought egg tarts as our dessert. Yummy! After a short stroll around the mall, we went to get the keys to our room and happily learn that we got a free upgrade to deluxe room! Yeay! We got room 1322, and its VERY NICE! The room is nicely equipped with mini kitchenette, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, lcd tv, radio alarm and much more. They also have a heated swimming pool with underwater music, but we just didn’t get the chance to enjoy it. Too bad…
We headed straight to Tsim Sha Tsui via the MTR. Bought the octopus card for travelling at HKD 150 (HKD 50 deposit). There is a linked bridge connecting the hotel to Mongkok MTR, walking distance around 15 mins. While walking around the streets of Tsim Sha Tsui, we passed by Hui Lau Shan dessert shop – must try! Had some cold dessert, Mango with glutinous rice ball and coconut milk pudding with red beans. NICE!
~sooo....many selections!~
Visited a few tourist spots such as Clock Tower and Avenue of Stars. It was around 6.30 pm when we reached Avenue of Stars, and had to wait till 8 pm for the Symphony of Light shows there. So, we got a quick bite at Mc Donald’s and waited for the show. It’s like a combination of laser lights with music.
~peninsula hotel - i loved the building~
~underground tunnel walkway-just like in the movies!~
~view of Hong Kong from Tsim Sha Tsui~
We then headed for our long waited dinner, at YAO GUAT HEI steamboat - its one of the must try in our list. There is a different set of pricing after 9pm, which is HKD 70+ for buffet style, per person. Wait la of coz! Have to pay HKD 98.00 for the soup based, we decided on pork bone soup. YUMMY!!!
End of Day 1….
