Hubby and I bought a new house in Puchong, and have been undergoing the renovation since April 2010 till now, and its' 11 Aug today....I can't wait for everything to be done!
Reason I opened this up and started writing again, is becoz i wanna document down some ups and downs we had with the whole process. So here goes...
The very first thing we confirmed - is the main gate and grilles. Error. Stupid error. This is becoz we then later decided to change the design of our front door, thus, the wrought iron grilles for the front door was a total waste. We decided on the change sometime end June, and we are told the works are all ready.
Lesson learnt : Don't confirm fixtures and fittings before the solid work is confirmed, like 101%...
Over this process I have also learnt that I (ME, yes!) have actually quite a good balance point! I can tell that some walls, or flat surface are not even with just one look. Well...ok, maybe alot people can do that, but the fact is, HUBBY Can't see wat I see! - We got it confirm by the contractors, and after measuring it was around 2-3 cm tilted....so i was right. A few places had me checking, it not fun. Lesson learnt : The contractors does not precisely use the level tool ?
Another horrid experience - mr air cond piping man. That fella took like almost 4 months, to do piping for 6 aircond points. Poor hubby had to call and call and call him. We got this guy's contact coz he came to fix an aircond at my brothers. We thought he was honest and good. Lesson learnt : Don't judge a person you know less than 24 hours.
I'm not finished with this aircond stuff. Coz this guy did such a bad job on the piping, we decided to get another one to do the installation. We simply can't wait another 4 months for him to install our 6 airconds. So, another guy came to do the installation, arranged by our dear aircond supplier, our dear friend. 2 more bad news came, the aircond in the hall and dining is not aligned. Another "level" issue. Then, there is gas leak at our hall aircond. I almost fainted. Sure enough, i can see that both are not level, although just around 1-2 inches difference. The leakage was rectified later. All i can say is tat I am keeping my finger's crossed.
Our dear carpenter then drilled TWO holes thru our consealed COPPER pipe while installing the cabinet underneath the sink in our bathroom. After explanation from our contractor cum plumber - its very obvious that the pipe is at tat location. Duh @_@! Clever man then hack a bigger hole off the tiles, causing bigger mistake coz now that area will NOT be covered by the cabinet later. FANTASTIC, and I thought he was doing a good job coz the rest looked so good...Lesson learnt : (correcting the previous one!) Don't judge a person you know less than 36 hours. Perhaps better, Don't judge!
To save money, we decided to engage separately...the one doing the constructions, the one doing paint, the one doing grilles...the one doing the electricity stuffs....er, you get wat i mean. So, now i get some stain at my kitchen top, and i don't know who is responsible for it! Lesson learnt: If you can, just engage with ONE contractor. Then you put all the blame on him. :) Anyway, our contractor said he can try removing the stain, no promise. So, again, i am keeping my finger's crossed.
Hmmm...enough complaining, or i will never stop. I guess nothing is perfect?
